Millington Solar Farm

On April 23, 2019, Silicon Ranch, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), the City of Millington, Millington Industrial Development Board (MIDB), and Memphis, Light Gas & Water (MLGW) officially “Flipped the Switch” on a 53-megawatt solar facility in Millington, Tennessee. The project power 7,500 homes, has 525 Solar Modules and has a footprint of 400+ acres of Solar Panels. Silicon Ranch owns, operates and maintains the facility through a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). The facility provides solar power to TVA customers, including NSA Mid-South, at cost-competitive rates. The 53 MWac facility now produces enough electricity to power approximately 7,500 homes and includes a single-axis tracking table mounting system, which allows 525,000 panels to follow the sun across its daily arc.

Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Silicon Ranch is the U.S. solar platform for Shell and one of the largest independent solar power producers in the country. Other Silicon Ranch projects in the Memphis area include the Agricenter, Bioworks (in Medical Center) and in Jackson, Tennessee. Millington Solar Farm took three years and $100 million to build, is the largest solar farm in the State of Tennessee, and is located on the west side of Bethuel Road, about one-half mile north of Navy Road.
